As a kid who certainly was a candidate for "fat camp," I understood and felt much of what Ms. Klein depicted in her book. I appreciated her candidness and brave introspection, which made me feel a little less "unique." As a reader, I did find that some sections too detailed and, well, long. I could feel how much she had invested in the remembering the minutia of that time of her life, but as an observer, it was more than I needed to know and made me jump ahead to where the next "action" was. I wanted to know more of her story, but didn't want to get slowed along the way.

Moose A Memoir of Fat Camp Stephanie Klein 9780060843298 Books Reviews

A waste of time.
A good read.
This was a fantastic read. After reading and relating to "Straight up and Dirty" I loved finding out how this insecure yet self absorbed character came to be. I think every woman can relate to "Moose" whether they spent summers at fat camp or not. This book spells out most female fear, whether young or old... not knowing who you are and people not accepting you for what you might be. Like "Straight Up and Dirty", "Moose" is smart, funny, and real. Stephanie Klein is a great talent.
I think anyone fat or thin can find themselves within this book. We all have parts of ourselves we want to change. Reading this book made me think differently about that.
Loved it. This is a ridiculous story about fat camp by a funny, funny lady.
This book has to do with the lengths people will go to lose weight, the lengths to which people screw each other and themselves up, and adolescent horrors. I found the author believable and reasonably introspective and perceptive. The story just felt like a downer, including many of the people in it.
This memoir is surprisingly candid and gives a great peek into the world of a teenager facing weight issues, which really are much more than just weight issues. I loved it!
